What is a call diverter and why does Securus not allow calls from some companies?
Call Diverters also known as remote call forwarding.
For security reasons, Securus Technologies does not allow calls to go through call diverters. Friends and Family usually use these services to take advantage of local, less expensive rates, versus the applicable long-distance rates. The correctional facilities we serve do not allow calls to be diverted, re-routed, forwarded, or in any way mask the true terminating location or called party. Calls from jails must be secure and investigators must be able to audit and track calls to recipients. There are strict rules about how calls can be routed outside of correctional facilities. If Securus detects that a call is routing through a call diversion service; calls to the number will be blocked.
